Home Stager Recommends 32-Year-Old Son Be Moved to Closet While House is on the Market

It’s not just your family pictures and personal items, according to a new staging trend, your adult son should also be kept out of sight while your home is on the market.

According to local home stager Terry Brainard, seeing an underemployed, fully-adult son wandering around the upstairs of your family home is a major turnoff for buyers. Brainard recommends the son be moved to the hallway closet, preferably behind the winter coats.

According to Brainard, “It’s okay to bring him back out after a tour is done, but you never know when a potential buyer is going to stop by, so don’t be afraid to just leave him in there.”

“If you are looking for a more humane solution, you could try and help him find a place of his own, but you and I both know how that goes.”
